CDP Theme Day – Library

photo_182_bis_libraryI had to say that I was somewhat dismayed when I saw the theme for this month’s City Daily Photo because the first time I saw the public library in Blois, I was very disappointed. It was a cold grey day and the very severe modern building constructed in 1997 seemed out of place next to the corn market inaugurated in 1850 so I thought I’d try and take a more attractive photo than last time. I still don’t like it. I think that an effort could have been made to connect up the architectural lines of the two buildings. What do you think?

I have to say that I dislike the inside even more! Unfortunately the library was closed when I went there. It has very strange opening hours and I couldn’t remember when I went there the first time so I could post a photo of the interior.

I kind of like it, but maybe I’d have to see it from the front angle to give a full impression. At least it has nice, big windows! The local branch of my library is in a shopping mall, so this seems nicer to me. 🙂

This IS the front! It does have big windows, it’s true. I wouldn’t like a library in a shopping mall either but I guess it’s convenient for most people.
