I have to say that, apart from the tulips in front of the Orangery in Cheverny, I was not impressed by their display which I thought lacked imagination like their Christmas decorations. At no point can you see the château itself from the tulip beds. I did, however, try to make the most of the “river of tulips” in my photographs.

Most people rave about them but I really think they could be more inventive. Jean Michel says that it’s so that they are planted mechanically and he’s probably right. 100,000 is a lot of bulbs!

It really is like a river and there are several.

I am reminded of the tulip beds here, in one of our parks where many of them are situated. Other tulip beds are strategically placed, however, with views of specific landmarks.

That sounds like a better idea to me.

Magnificent colour, but I quite understand that there is a lack of creativity.
Machine planting could quite well be the clue.
