My mother always called these flowers April violets probably because she loved Yardley’s soap, but I know it’s not there real name. These particular ones have been flowering at least twice a year for over 20 years, despite occasional neglect.
Ma mère a toujours appelé ces fleurs “violettes d’avril” sans doute parce qu’elle aimait le savon Yardley du même nom, mais je sais que ce n’est pas leur vrai nom. Celles-ci fleurissent au moins deux fois par an depuis plus de 20 ans malgré une certaine négligence de ma part.
A delightful plant that once upon a time you saw on everyone’s windowsill. Hardly see them now. You must have green fingers, even if on occasion neglectful, for it to have lived so long.
