Here I was, thinking that retirement would give me more time. The trouble is that I’m not really retired … When I looked out the window this morning, I was delighted to see how the grass has grown again now that the drought is over. However, I have been thinking a lot about next year’s plantations as I need to concentrate on vegetation that will survive another summer without rain.
Et moi qui croyait que la retraite allait me donner plus de temps. Le problème est que je n’ai pas vraiment pris ma retraite encore … Lorsque j’ai regardé par la fenêtre ce matin j’étais ravie de voir que l’herbe a repoussé après la sécheresse. Mais j’ai beaucoup réfléchi pour les plantations de l’année prochaine et j’ai besoin de me concentrer sur des végétaux qui vont survire un autre été sans pluie.

We have had a long hot summer with little rain but the drought has broken and the grass at the back of the house where the soil is clayey is turning green again.
Nous avons eu un été très chaud avec peu de pluie. Maintenant la sécheresse semble se terminer et notre pelouse a l’arrière de la maison où le sol est argileux redevient vert.
