The Missing Boat – Pas de gabarre

photo_90_no_boatYou may remember the photo below from last summer when we discovered that there was a ferry crossing for pedestrians and bikes over the Loire from Cour-sur-Loire to the bike path leading to Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire and on to Chambord. Imagine our dismay on Saturday when there was narry a boat in sight nor a sign. So I phoned the Loire Observatory in Saint-Dyé today to see what was going on. I was very relieved to learn that the ferry will be operating again every weekend in June and every day in July and August!
Vous vous rappellerez peut-être de la photo ci-dessous prise l’été dernier lorsque nous avons découvert un petit bac qui fait traverser piétons et vélos sur la Loire entre Cour-sur-Loire et la piste cyclable qui mène d’abord à Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire et ensuite à Chambord. Vous pouvez imaginer notre déception lorsqu’on a vu ni bac ni panneau. Alors j’ai téléphoné aujourd’hui à l’Observatoire de la Loire à Saint-Dyé pour savoir ce qui se passe. J’étais bien soulagée d’apprendre que le bac reprendra sa traversée tous les weekends de juin et tous les jours en juillet et août !

@Susan – yes, you’d think that only school children go to swimming pools and cycle on the official Loire à Velo itinerary!
