The Perfect Pâtisserie – La pâtisserie parfaite

photo_170_perfect_patisserieLangeais is famous for its mediaeval castle but what we love is the pâtisserie opposite! They make their own delicious ice-cream, pâtisseries and chocolates and the view is wonderful! We cycled a few extra kilometers to go there.

Like the tree lined stretches of road, that is so typically French to me. I wonder if the little loudspeaker is for music or a midi hoot?

Oh really? I didn’t realise that. Many have been taken down due to road accidents.
Since the castle is just opposite, it may be part of the sound and light show. Is a midi hoot a midday siren or something else?

At least two towns we know of have a hoot at mid day – down tools for lunch perhaps. The loudspeakers often get music played market day and worse a commentary that is incomprehensible, due to distortion, during parades or bike races. The wrought iron work is so lovely.
