I fail to understand why almost ALL the picnic tables in France (and there are not a lot of them I have to say) are in the sun at midday (not to mention most of the afternoon).
Je n’arrive pas à comprendre pourquoi quasiment TOUTES les tables de pique-nique en France (et il n’y en a pas beaucoup je dois dire) sont au soleil à midi (sans parler de tout le reste de l’après-midi).

It must be for the tourists. When we started our holidays in France our choice of site for the picnic lunch was always in the sun. Now we are living here we, of course, head for the shady spots.
Yet they are in very non-touristy places, but I guess you’re right.
Here when I see them, they tend to be more often in shade.
Far more sensible!
