Görlitz has a surprising number of very beautiful baroque and Renaissance doorways. The first is the most richly sculpted while the second is the most popular among tourists. It was discovered quite fortuitously in the 20th century that someone standing on the left of the arch could hear quite plainly what was being whispered by the person on the right of the arch. There is absolutely no scientific evidence but lots of photographs of people balancing precariously on the stone step!
Görtlitz a un nombre surprenant de très beaux portails baroques et renaissances. Le premier est le plus richement sculpté tandis que le deuxième est le plus populaire avec les touristes. Il a été découvert tout à fait par hasard au 20e siècle qu’une personne mettant son oreille à la gauche de l’arc entendait parfaitement bien une personne chuchotant sur la droite de celui-ci. Il n’y a absolument aucune preuve scientifique mais beaucoup de photos de touristes se tenant de façon précaire sur le socle en pierre !
