The French President, François Hollande, invited the French to hang a red, white and blue flag from their windows to participate, on Friday 27th November, in the national day of hommage to victims of the terrorist attacks on 13th November. We didn’t see many in Paris, but few people have a national flag, unless they attend a lot of sporting events..
Les Français ont été invités par François Hollande à “pavoiser” leur “lieu d’habitation avec un drapeau bleu, bland, rouge, les couleurs de la France, pour participer, vendredi 27 novembre, à la journée d’hommage national aux victimes des attentats du 13 novembre. Nous n’avons pas vu beaucoup à Paris mais peu de personnes possèdent un drapeau national, à moins de fréquenter des rencontres sportives.

11th November is a public holiday in France and Belgium. It commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, which took effect at the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.” A ceremony takes place in each town and flowers are placed on the war memorial.
Le 11 novembre est férié en France et en Belgique. Cette journée commémore l’armistice signé entre les alliés et l’Allemagne à Compiègne pour la cessation des hostilités sur le front de l’oeust. Il est entré en vigueur à l’onzième heure du onzième jour du onzième mois. Une cérémonie a lieu tous les ans dans chaque ville et village et on dépose des gerbes sur le monument aux morts.
