This is our last weekend in the US. We will be returning to France on Monday after five weeks away. This vertical lift bridge crossing the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth was opened in 2013, replacing a bridge of similar design built in 1923. C’est notre dernier week-end aux États-Unis. Halloween in Boston
I haven’t really disappeared but we have been in North America since my last post on 1st October, first in Canada (Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) where we had to spend 14 clear days before traveling to the US to see our new grandson in Boston. One of the recurring scenes throughout our visit …
CDP Theme Day – Winners
I love it when the nasturtiums leave their beds in September and start racing each other across the grass! For other takes on this month’s City Daily Photo theme of the month – Winners – click here. …
The Cloud Gardener’s Tower – La Tour du jardinier des nuages
This is seriously what it’s called. I don’t know how they dream up these names.

The Greenhouse – La serre
Yesterday we discovered a greenhouse at Chaumont we had never seen before. I sat in the chair for a while and just soaked in the peaceful atmosphere.
Château de Chaumont and its gardens never fail to bring me peace and serenity.
Back to the roots – Retour aux racines
This is part of the Garden Festival at Chateau de Chaumont. I’m not sure why the roots are blue though.
Today we cycled to Château de Chaumont and I couldn’t wait to see the dahlia beds. My favourite is still crème de cassis. My own dahlias, after succumbing to slugs when I replanted them are finally producing some flowers.
Postcard from France: La Croix des Têtes
We came into France via Fréjus Tunnel. It was a perfect day for travelling, with not a truck in sight! Tonight we are staying in Montluçon. Tomorrow we should be home in Blois by midday.
