Dragon cellar – Cave à dragon
This cellar door with its painted dragon is one of the old parts of Blois which has lots of stone staircases.
Cette cave avec son dragon peint se trouve dans une des parties anciennes de Blois avec beaucoup d’escaliers en pierre.
Strange weather this year. Although it’s November 7, the temperature is 15°C. I took this photo from the car between our house in Les Grouets and Mitterand Bridge.
Drôle de temps cette année. Bien qu’on soit le 7 novembre, il fait 15°C. J’ai pris cette photo depuis la voiture entre notre maison aux Grouets et le pont Mitterand.
The wood mushroom (Agaricus silvicola) is an edible mushroom. It is recognisable for its strong aniseed smell. The cap is light cream, then pick and gradually dark chocolate. We found it in the little wood behind our house. Excellent with fish.
L’agaric des bois (Agaricus silvicola) également appelé agaric anisé est un bon comestible. On le reconnaît par sa forte odeur anisée. Il a des lames serrées, crême clair puis rosé et enfin graduellement brun chocolat. Nous avons trouvé plusieurs dans le petit bois à l’arrière de notre maison. Excellent avec du poisson.

Wicker baskets are still used for grocery shopping and carrying firewood.
On utilise toujours des paniers en osier pour faire ses courses et porter du bois pour la cheminée.
Here is another magnificent Renaissance fireplace from Blois Royal Castle restored in the 19th century with a painted decor created by the architect Félix Duban. Like the main fireplace, the mantel carries François I’s emblematic salamander. You may remember that another fireplace represents Henri II and Catherine de Medicis.
Voici une autre cheminée dans le château royal de Blois. Comme celle qui réunit Henri II et Catherine de Medicis and celle du salon d’honneur, cette belle cheminée renaissance également restaurée au XIXe siècle avec un décor peint imaginé par l’architecte Félix Duban, met en exergue la salamandre emblématique de François I.
We found this Renaissance window surprising giving the surroundings.
Cette fenêtre renaissance nous a paru incongrue vus les alentours.
We bought a very large ladder so that Jean Michel can climb up to the roof of our house, particularly to check the gutters. No way would I go up there! I don’t have a head for heights. Not like the hornet nest destroyer who climbed up on the roof recently!
