I think Red Pistachio is a great name for this artists’ studio and workshop in the old market quarter of Tours.

Cathédrale Saint Gatien de Tours
More than 3 1/2 centuries were needed to build Saint Gatien Cathedral in Tours (1170 to 1547). It replaced a first cathedral built in the 4th century and a second in the 12th century, both of which were destroyed by fire.

This beautiful Renaissance town hall, built in the 16th century, is in Beaugency, about 30 km north of Blois. Its 7,500 inhabitants are called Balgentiens.

The Still – L'alambique
Jean Michel was most intrigued by this still in the courtyard of Château de Moncontour wine museum and cellar, not only because of its size but also the presence of an electric motor. The one he knew in his childhood looked more coppery.
Jean Michel était très intrigué par cet alambic dans la cour du musée de vin du château de Moncontour si bien par sa taille que par la présence de moteur électrique. Celui qu’il connaissait de son enfance avait un aspect plus cuivré.
The Wine Press – Le pressoir
We found this on our bike route yesterday – an old grape press at Château Moncontour near Vouvray. It also has a museum, unfortunately, for us, closed on Sundays. You can also see the troglodyte cellars.
En faisait du vélo hier, nous avons trouvé ce vieux pressoir au Château Moncontour à côté de Vouvray. Il y a également un musée qui à notre déception, est fermé le dimanche. On voit des caves troglodyte à côté.
Entwined carrots – Les carottes enlacées
As soon as I saw these carrots at the market this morning, I knew I wanted them! But when I asked the market gardener for the “entwined carrots” he didn’t realise what I wanted. Everyone was most amused!

I have no idea who is the author of this painting in Château de Chenonceau but I think the sobriety of the woman’s watchful eyes, slight smile, white ruff and black surround juxtaposed with the sumptuous wallpaper and gilded door is very effective.
Je n’ai aucune idée de l’auteur de cette toile au château de Chenonceau mais je trouve frappante la juxtaposition de la femme avec ses yeux attentifs, son petit sourire, sa fraise blanche, le fond noir du tableau, la tenture murale somptueuse et la porte dorée.
